EMBRUJO ARENA. MARBELLA
When we submitted our proposal to the international competition for the conversion of the old bullring in Marbella, the program included the conversion of the bullring into a multipurpose building to house all kinds of demonstrations and cultural and sports activities, proposing the design of a covered multipurpose building, which would take advantage of the original building.
This competition was won by us in 2011, through an initial proposal that solved the program requested in the specifications, keeping the building of the bullring, which was changed the facade and covered the arena, leaving a covered building that would allow the celebration of all kinds of events such as conferences, sporting events, concerts, even bullfights, etc.. The program was completed by the construction of a shopping center on the plot, and two buildings for a five-star hotel in one of them, and the possibility of office use in the other. The parking would be developed on the surface, with an agreement with the City Council on an adjacent space, and below ground level, taking advantage of the differences in level observed in the area.
Subsequently, in a second version, after agreement with the Marbella Town Hall, the bullring was eliminated, replacing it with a much larger shopping center building, maintaining the hotel and office towers, and placing a smaller building on the plot, with the possibility of using it as a parking lot.
