SOTOMÉRIDA SHOPPING CENTER PROJECT. MÉRIDA
The project is located next to the Guadiana River, as it passes through the historic villa Emérita Augusta (Mérida), in one of the most important expansion areas of the city, where this commercial complex is to be built with more than 45,000 m2 built above ground level, including shops, circulation areas, docks and storage areas, with capacity for 650 parking spaces. In addition to this main commercial use, the complex incorporates a gas station and more than 30,000 m2 of open-air surface area for parking and access.
The plot on which the project is located is the result of the union of two plots of land initially separated by a road. At the request of the Mérida City Council, these two plots were joined, eliminating the road that separated them and changing the layout of Avenida del Rio, to relocate the project. In these plots all the commercial equipment corresponding to the Interior Reform Plan that affected the area has been concentrated, so that in the entire newly created residential area there are no commercial premises except for those included in this Collective Commercial Establishment.
This commercial use is planned in a single building. The projected building is adapted to the great unevenness of the site, being developed on different platforms at various levels to allow access to it from several points and not to exceed the maximum number of floors allowed by the planning.
