D. JOSÉ MARÍA SENDARRUBIAS REDONDO
José M Sendarrubias Redondo was born in Madrid (Spain), in March 1961, and is an Architect by the Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid ETSAM, since December 1988, being a member of the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid COAM since January 1989, having recently received the silver medal for his 25 years of membership.
At the beginning of his professional career he opened his own Architectural Studio in 1989, working in professional collaboration with several Spanish Architects, and being professionally associated with Mr. Manuel Alberto Arias Horas since 1990.
From 1990 onwards he developed a large part of his career and professional activity in the business world in the construction and engineering sector, intervening in important building and infrastructure works in prestigious and large Spanish construction groups such as Grupo Ortiz Construcciones y Proyectos (1991-2000, as Project Manager, Technical Director and finally General Manager of its subsidiary Compañía Internacional de Construcción y Diseño, CONDISA) and Grupo Isolux Corsán (seventh Spanish construction group, 2000-2010, as Director of its subsidiary Ingeniería Ibalux), Technical Director and finally General Manager of the subsidiary Compañía Internacional de Construcción y Diseño, CONDISA) and the Isolux Corsán Group (seventh Spanish construction group, 2000-2010, as Director of its subsidiary Ingeniería Ibalux, and later as Director of Construction and General Manager of Real Estate and Assets of the group and member of the Management Committee since 2006). During this period, most of his responsibilities were developed in international markets.
He has been responsible for the execution of major construction projects and real estate developments such as: Conservation and Restoration of the Public Monuments of the Madrid City Council, Restoration of the Royal Palace in Madrid, Restoration of the Convent of Las Huelgas Reales in Burgos, Restoration of the Toledo Bridge in Madrid (Madrid City Council Award for the best restoration work), Construction of the CAR High Performance Center in Madrid (Madrid City Council Award for the best building work), Talavera de la Reina Fairgrounds, Cordial Mogan Valley Hotel Complex in Tenerife and Xeresa Golf in Benidorm, Nouadhibou Hospitals in Mauritania, Fann Hospital in Dakar, Senegal, Neuquén in Argentina and Bata in Equatorial Guinea, Denia Tourism Agency, Azul de Cortés Real Estate Development in Baja California, Mexico.
Throughout this period he never abandoned the professional practice in the development of architectural projects, having carried out and directed important projects of the relevance of: Integral Remodeling of the Toledo Bridge in Madrid (Madrid City Council award for the best rehabilitation work), Integral Remodeling of the Clínica de la Esperanza building in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Integral Restoration of the facades of the Hospital de la Princesa, in Madrid, Club Social del Campo de Golf los Retamares in Alalpardo, Madrid, Sports Complex in Alaior in Mallorca, Salto del Agua Sports Complex in Benidorm, Sports and commercial complex in Valdilecha, Madrid, Residential Complex in Mirasierra, Madrid, etc
For 20 years he has collaborated regularly with Mr. Angel Hernandez Espada, and since 2010 they have shared a project office, having carried out projects of the importance of: Remodeling of the Jarama Circuit, in Madrid, the Eurasia Project in Getafe, the integral rehabilitations of the Hotels in Puerta del Sol, 1 and Gran Vía, 31 in Madrid, all of them in Spain; the Integral Rehabilitation project of the Valparaíso funicular, in Chile; or the ESHRA Higher School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, the Ain Naadja Garrison Circle and the Royaume Hotel in Algiers, the La Citadelle Hotel complex in Biskra, or the Blida Regional Circle, all in Algeria. Several of these projects have won awards, in many cases as a result of international architectural competitions.
José María Sendarrubias is an Architect by the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid ETSAM (1988), Master in Projects by the Centro Superior de Arquitectura CSA of Madrid (1990), and specialist in Restoration and Rehabilitation by the ETSA of Madrid (1989), as well as specialist in Sports Facilities by the COAM (1991). He has acted as a speaker as a specialist in monumental restoration in various conferences, symposiums and seminars of important and prestigious institutions such as the General Foundation of the Complutense University-Summer Courses of the Escorial, the COAM, or International Congresses of Restoration, having intervened as editor of several publications and specialized articles (“Limpieza, Restauración y Consolidación del Puente de Toledo” 1996, ISBN 84-86895-79-0, “El Caballo de Bronce” 1997, as well as the collective publications of the XI and XII Congresos de Conservación y Restauración de Bienes Culturales, 1996 and 1998).
